Ovid is switched - Eureka is next
Ovid has been switched over, Eureka is next. St. Johns will be switched on Monday morning. Elsie, Middleton and Maple
Rapids will move next week after St.Johns is done.

So far everything has transferred well, couple of issues with switching DNS on some routers. also, remember a good reboot is probably needed on the PC to aquire the new settings.

Ovid network next to move
We will be moving the Ovid network today after 5pm.

As long as access is available to routers we will change the DNS settings and the transition will be fairly seamless. If you do not have a router or have remote access turned off (or a password we do not know), then these settings will need to be made.

Fowler and Pewamo networks completed on upgrade path
Fowler and Pewamo have been transferred over to the fiber backbone. If you locked us out of your router make sure to change your DNS server addresses.

69.63.236.12 is the main server address
10.10.22.12 is secondary

NEW Backbone arrives at Mutual Data!!!!!!!
Three plus years ago, ( I could write a book about how difficult it
was to get fiber here in Clinton County), Mutual Data began its quest for a fiber based
high speed connection for the Internet backbone. That "event" has
happened. Not only do we now have a huge capacity to handle
traffic, it is also much more reliable. A fiber connection is the
"cat's meow" of broadband.

We are now in the process of switching the entire network to the new backbone.

It will cause a few issues that hopefully we can minimize.

1. DNS server addresses are changing- This is the address used to
tell your pc where a particular website is located at.

The new DNS server addresses are:

69.63.236.12
69.63.236.11
10.10.22.12

If you do NOT have a router and have a "hard-coded" PC then the DNS
settings must be switched. This link http://www.mutualdata.com/dns
will help with that. If you have a router, one, do not add anything
to your pc settings, and two, Mutual Data
techs should be able to switch the DNS server "while you sleep". DNS
problems should not appear till after the old server IPs's are
removed from service.

2. IP assignments- there is a point in time where each ip needs to
be switched. This will cause an outage while the IP's are switched
in the router. This work is scheduled to occur after 5pm. Usually
this will only last 10-15 minutes.

3. Our mailserver will be switching to the new network on Friday
night approx. starting at 10pm. This will allow the new IP settings
to propagate across the Internet.

4. The order we are switching networks is as follows :

Fowler- July 23
Ovid- July 24
St. Johns -July 25
Elsie- July 26
Eureka- July 27
Middleton- July 28
Rainbow Lake- July 28
Maple Rapids- July 30

We will be working behind the scenes to adjust the routers we have
access to and make these changes as seamless as possible. Some
accounts do not allow us access to their routers so you will need to contact your IT
staff/provider to make the switch. If you have a "static IP" (for
example a mailserver) then we will contact you with the new IP
address.
